This year marks the 18th year of the Star Spangled Spectacular Event. The Overland Park Rotary Club acquired the honor of hosting and coordinating the 4th of July Star Spangled Spectacular in 1998 in conjunction with our partners the City of Overland Park and Corporate Woods. Prior to ‘98, the event was produced by our sister club the Overland Park South Rotary Club. The past Presidents and Event Chairs are listed above representing the Overland Park Rotary Club.
Star Spangled Spectacular Event
Our community is filled with patriots: the police officer, the fire fighter, the teacher, the entrepreneur, the volunteer, and the veteran just to name a few. All are patriots – especially those who are currently serving our country overseas. The Fourth of July is the time set aside to honor the patriots in our families, our communities and our nation, while celebrating the unique freedoms we enjoy in the United States of America. The Rotary Club of Overland Park is proud to honor those patriots – past and present – who have established, served and protected the United States of America.
Not only does the Star Spangled Spectacular celebrate America, but it is also a great community event and a signature fundraising effort. All serve to strengthen our community, our country and the world. The event provides a place for families to gather, foster a sense of community and participate in the annual tradition of viewing fireworks together with their neighbors.
Proceeds from the event go to several different sources including: the Rotary Club of Overland Park Foundation, Rotary International, Rotary Youth Leadership Institute, and three local charities who serve children. This year we support: Children's Center for the Visually Impaired, Kansas Children's Service League and Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care.
With sound corporate, community and civic support the event continues to grow and prosper. Please, join us on July 4th for an evening celebration and fun as our families, our friends and community, come together to honor our nation.
